Tamkeen Association – Husan, Bethlehem
(Prevocational Training, Physiotherapy, Psychosocial Support)
Tamkeen Association is one of the community centers that is technically supervised by the Community-based Rehabilitation (CBR) Program in Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation (BASR). It was established in 2013 and holds an accredited registration from the Ministry of Interior. It serves the Husan region and the villages of the western countryside. The association targets people with intellectual and motor disabilities from mild to moderate degrees, from the ages of 12 to 18 years old, and provides pre-vocational training workshops and a psychological support section.
The work of Tamkeen focuses on developing the professional skills and capabilities of people with intellectual and motor disabilities through training in recycling workshops and the production of wooden works and other products that are made by the beneficiaries for the Palestinian market. Tamkeen also aims to enhance the life skills of beneficiaries, such asocial communication, education and training them on being independent. The center is also concerned with the mental health of its trainees, as it provides individual and group sessions to deliver the necessary psychological support.
