Tuqu’ Center for Special Education – Tuqu’, Bethlehem
(Special Education, Speech Therapy)
Tuqu’ Center is one of the community centers that is technically supervised by the Community Rehabilitation (CBR) Program at Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation (BASR). The Center was established in 2022 through joint cooperation between BASR and Tuqu’ Municipality. The center aims to facilitate the access of persons with disabilities, especially those with simple, medium and severe intellectual disabilities, to a rehabilitative educational framework that responds to their needs and works to develop their academic, developmental and life abilities and skills. The center also provides academic and developmental support services for people with learning disabilities. The center targets children with simple, medium, severe, and compound intellectual disabilities, and children with learning difficulties.
The Tuqu’ Center for Special Education receives children from Tuqu’, Jannata and other nearby villages. It was established in response to the presence of a large number of persons with disabilities who are not involved in educational frameworks in the eastern countryside of Bethlehem Governorate and in response to the absence of frameworks specialized in providing educational and rehabilitative services for persons with disabilities in the region.
