At BASR, we believe that every person has the right to live an independent and dignified life through inclusive, rights-based support.

Through BASR’s Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Program, Mr. Abbas Al-dasuki, a 31-year-old man with a physical disability from Burqa village in Nablus Governorate, was identified by a local CBR worker.

Following his identification and registration, a comprehensive assessment was conducted as part of the program’s Inclusive Case Management approach. The assessment focused on understanding his needs, strengths, interests, and priorities, ensuring that the support provided was tailored to his individual circumstances and aspirations. Based on the assessment findings, Abbas was referred to BASR’s Economic Empowerment Unit, where a tailored self-employment intervention was developed to support his economic independence. As part of this intervention, he received four sheep to establish a small income-generating project suited to his abilities, interests, and circumstances. Today, Abbas has established a sustainable source of income, strengthening his economic independence and contributing to his ability to live a more self-reliant life.

BASR’s support does not end with the provision of resources. The Economic Empowerment Unit continues to provide regular follow-up, technical guidance, and ongoing supervision to support the project’s sustainability and address any challenges that may arise.

Abbas’s journey reflects BASR’s commitment to empowering persons with disabilities through individualized, rights-based interventions that promote inclusion, autonomy, economic participation, and meaningful engagement in society.
